cAREful nOW.....!

"To Me, To You!" etc. Presumably the satellites that crashed today were being repositioned by the latest money-making space-based venture from the Chuckle Brothers INC.

"Hang on, left a bit, no, watch out.. There's another one! No, I said LEFT.." etc.

I mean, really? How Does that happen?! Its not like they don't have GPS is it??

Still on a vaguely "All Things Space" tip - here's a Z-share link to a wicked D&B bootleg by NERO - Space 2001

The Theme from 2001 as you've (probably) never heard it before (unless you remember it from 2004 - but what are the chances, eh?)

If you like it, check their myspace here

They've got a load of DJ dates coming up, so go see 'em if you get a chance. They're still kinda unsung heroes of UK D&B scene (if you ask me..) & last year started their own label 'Punchy Recordings' - on which they now release their D&B & Dubstep tunes. Back end of last year their 'Energy VIP' got a load of airplay from a certain national radio station. Out for now.

tHis lOoks LiKe iT cOULd be a fILm wORTh WAtchiNg..

Liked Michael Sheen in 'Frost/ Nixon'? Look out for this. Are you "Clough Enough?". Favourite story of Cloughy is he's in the dressing room giving a half-time speech saying "See McGovern? He's our best player. When you get the ball, pass it to him!"

qUitE wElL dONE (tO dEATh, BUT gOoD)

Hi there. A busy day today. Though found some good tunes in blogsville tonight, which i'll post at some point v soon.

BTW - I know that THE ENTIRE WORLD HAS POSTED DAFT PUNK in the last 18 months or longer, but thought this was interesting / quite well done / and they bothered to at least do an 8-bit logo for it. Sure, sure. It won't change your life, but few things will. Seacrest Out.

wHeN pubLic tRANsporT gOEs wroNG...

Imagine my amusement to see on the tube at King's Cross on Monday night after the gig (don't know why didn't mention it in previous post?) but the dot matrix screen thingy which says where the tube's going etc, was knackered, & read "NORDEN via Bank 2mins"

Surely a "Cock-up" / "Howler" / "Camcorder Calamity" the great clipboard-wielder himself would smirk at...

Norden's been flogging the dead horse of the cheap-to-make-clip-show for yonks (notably "It'll Be Alright On The Night" Parts 1-40 or something).

If you've never seen Norden chortling at his own pre-scripted monologues that cue-into local TV news "howlers", now's your chance. Click This Bit. No, This Bit. Enjoy his definition of the phrase "Cock-Up". Bonkers.

ReD LiGHt ComPanY ToNIGHt

R(ed) L(ight) C(ompany) tonight at Islington Academy.. This is what they looked like...

A mix of Arcade Fire-gone-pop-meets-Pixies-meets-Polyphonic Spree (remember them?!) Though some good songs. Expect Festival sing-a-longs later this summer.. (esp. 'Arts & Crafts')
Their myspace is here

It was a night of look-a-likes though - with the guitarist looking a bit Justin Lee Collins, & amusingly over by the bar, an old bloke who looked the spit of Michael Caine (early 80's Era!)

Howling Bells
Now, they were disappointing - having heard a lot of good things about this band, they sounded v early 90's - always a worry. Left about half-way through to go & get some food. Though don't take my word for it. Disagree / Agree. Whatever. Check out their myspace here

pICtuRes TELl sToriEs..

So its tipping-it-down in London today. Off to see a gig tonight - Red Light Company - kinda need to have a 'view' on this band. But to take my mind off quite how crappy the weather is & to put off tidying up the flat a bit before the gig, here's some assorted pictures. See if you can spot the connection between them all....
1) London's River Thames & Waterloo Bridge in Distance

2) A poster featuring the "who's who" of yester-year's comedians

3) A Shop in Edinburgh with a suspect name..

 4) A picture of Yacht (off've DFA)  - Check Their myspace
here

5) An 'arty' wall spotted in Monmatre when I was over there at New Year. Profound, isn't it?

GoOD bISniSS

Here's some good bisniss - a wicked new mix of Sinichi Osawa (who remixed Crookers 'Rendezvous', Chems 'Star Guitar', Felix Da Housecat's 'Radio' & LOADS of others, this time the re-rub is from Tronik Youth - good to have him back...check it here:

WElcomE aLonG nOw...

Hi There.... I presume you've got one of these, then?

If you're reading this now, can I just say a big "Many Thanks!"

So, about a ferfillion years after the rest of the world has started publishing their brain-droppings electronically, I thought I'd get involved.

Its easier to say what you're against, than for. So here's a start:

This blog is isn't about making profound or clever thoughts in a "making-sense-of-this-crazy-world-in-which-we-live-in" type of way.

This blog isn't about me holding myself up as some wildly exciting media-Barley...

This blog isn't about espousing about music & saying that I'm the future barometer of all things music (though I do work in the music industry, so expect more than a few "self-centred-music-based-musings-on-music"

This blog isn't about "being-well-weapon-n-east-london-rules-only"

This blog won't change your life

This blog won't change my life

This blog will never knowingly include any dodgy music. Or dodgy links, to dodgy shit. Funny, interesting, side-ways-looking, future-looking maybe...

This blog isn't about a made-up life, its based on actual events. Some of which i'll include, some of which I won't.

This blog won't be a place to bitch about work. Life's too short.

This blog represents my personal views, not those of my employer, the b.b.c.

Think that's a start - all in all - welcome along - there will be music, pix, & other schnizz on the way shortly!

Who's on-board?
